Interfund Entry Rule Requirements Between Ramp for FE and FENXT

When syncing transactions from Ramp for FE into Financial Edge NXT (FENXT), you may encounter errors related to interfund entry rules. These issues typically occur when a transaction involves more than one fund, and FENXT does not have the appropriate interfund rules configured to allow the posting.

Why This Happens

Ramp sends the full distribution string, including Fund, for each transaction line.

If the transaction includes distributions across multiple funds, FENXT requires an interfund entry rule to automatically create the due-to/due-from entries needed to keep funds in balance.

If the necessary rules are not set up in FENXT, the sync may fail with an error indicating:

  • Missing or invalid interfund rule

  • Unable to balance entry between funds

  • Interfund entries are required but not configured

How to Resolve

To resolve the error, ensure that the appropriate interfund entry rules are set up in FENXT:

  1. In FENXT, navigate to:
General Ledger → Settings → Interfund Entry Rules

  2. Verify that rules exist for each pair of funds that may interact.

  3. If a rule is missing, create a new interfund rule that defines:

    • The “From” Fund

    • The “To” Fund

    • The accounts to use for Due To / Due From entries

  4. Save the rule.

  5. Return to Ramp for FE and retry the sync.

Best Practices

  • Create rules for ALL fund combinations used by your organization.

  • If you add new funds in FENXT, remember to add matching interfund rules if they will interact with other funds.

  • Periodically review your chart of accounts and interfund rules to ensure nothing is missing.
